GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN
The Pinto Horse Association of NSW Inc.
Sad news from Jenny Nixon and her daughter Karly advising the death of Drifter....
"Drifter was the best horse that i could ever ask for.
We went and did everything together.
We were members of Kurrajong pony club.
He was so reliable, loyal and my best friend  and i miss him every day.

Vale Southfork Sarah "Kaila"
from April Lawler, a tribute to her much loved mare:
"This is my mare I had for 11 years, Southfork Sarah, known as Kaila at home. She introduced me to the pinto world when I was 14!
We attended pony club together for 10 years, and she excelled in all aspects including showing, jumping, eventing, sporting and camp drafting.
Kaila was born 2/11/91 and left me on the 15/12/05.
She had been put out to stud but passed away before she could be served.
Kaila was a very special horse to me who will forever be a very big part of my heart.
These were both at Newcastle Show (different years), the led was Champ Pinto and the ridden was a ridden open galloway class!"

"No heaven can heaven be, if my horse isn't there to welcome me."

From Vicki and Margaret from Manchurian Stud
I held him in my arms so tight,
Through the darkness and fury of the night.
I pushed a lock of hair into its place,
I knew that he would not win this race.
All of the years that he had been my friend,
The long journey had finally come to an end.
As I brush my tears away,
I remember those special days.
We would gallop through fields
from sunrise to sunset,
We knew that both of us would never forget.
All day and all night,
We would gallop on without a single fight.
As he took in his final breath,
I knew that it meant he had an easy death.
As I shut his eyelids tight,
He disappeared into the stormy night.
I saw his soul gallop off happy and content,
As I whispered into his ear “Goodbye, my friend.”

A Farewell To My Princesses - by Rachelle Corfield

On Friday the 5th of February at 9am neighbours called to inform me that my 3 ponies had been attacked and mauled by 2 savage dogs at the paddock around the corner from my house were I agist them.  My husband Geoff and I immediately jumped in the car and drove to the paddock. When we arrived Glam (4 month old palomino pinto filly - Wishaw Glen Glitz N Glamour) was already gone they had killed her with one snap to her jugular, Pippy (10 month old black buckskin pinto filly - Wishaw Glen Simply Irresistible) was alive but barely and Kally (3yr old palomino pinto stallion - Domino Down Kahlua N Cream) was standing protectively over her. Pippy had multiple major wounds and was in deep shock. We immediately called the vets from Sydney Uni at Cobbitty and whilst we were waiting for them a good friend who is a paramedic did his best to save Pippy, he washed out her wounds, bandaged them to keep them clean, and gave her a shot of equine penicillin. When the vets arrived shortly after they also did their best to save her but her wounds were far to extensive and we had to make the heartbreaking decision to put her to sleep.

Kally stood with her and nuzzled her through it all just so she knew he was there. Kally sustained more minor injuries himself as being a stallion i think he was more aggressive and the girls were an easier target. After Pippy was gone Kally continued to stand protectively over her while the neighbours told me how when they ran over to help, Kally had boxed Pippy in the corner behind, and put himself between her and the dogs trying to protect her. The bravery and courage this little pony showed is to be commended. He just couldn't protect her and himself, but he loyally did his best.  This amazing little stallion then overcame these injuries and stress, looked amazing, performed to perfection, and went on to win his stallion class at Sydney Royal in the AMPS ring, all in a matter of  8 weeks, is just mind blowing!

I just seems so unfair that our beautiful, happy, little girls died because of someone else’s negligence in not containing their savage dogs. As angry and as upset as we were, our anger was only heightened when the council ranger and police finally arrived and explained to us that even though there was no doubt the dogs had committed this crime and they were aware of where they lived and who owned them, that they did not have the legal power to seize the dogs and have them destroyed. The law protects the savage dogs and their owners, stating that the dogs need to reoffend a second time before they have the legal right to seize and destroy them. The dog owners told us they didn't want to know about our problems or what their dogs had done. We were utterly devastated to say the least.

I just wanted to write in memory of my girls and in admiration of my beautiful stallion Kally who we thank Leanne at Domino Downs Stud for allowing us to own such an amazing brave little pony who will forever be a hero not just to us, but also to our beautiful little girls we lost that I'm sure are now watching over him.  Thank you for giving us the opportunity to own our beautiful boy who is our little hero, and whose bravery I will always admire.

Our beautiful princesses know that we love you always; we will never forget you and we will fight to the end for your justice. Your lives here with us were cut unfairly short, but my darlings enjoy your everlasting lives in the big paddock in the sky. I know the Lord will take care of you until the day we meet again.
Farewell my babies, rest in peace. xoxox
